Red Wine San Giusto a Rentennano Chianti Classico 2019. This historic Chianti estate is set in the southern part of the region and has been in the Martini di Cigala family since 1914. Over the years the family have been guardians of the traditional Chianti Classico style even as other local wineries embraced more modern international winemaking approaches. Today their Chianti Classico is a regular favourite with wine critics and the 2016 vintage was ranked third in Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines of 2019. In the vineyard the estate follows organic agricultural practices to produce top quality fruit and harvests by hand at optimum maturity. Their Chianti Classico is predominantly Sangiovese with a small amount of Canaiolo. The young wine ages in a combination of large oak casks and 500 litre tonneaux for 10-12 months before bottling and release. The San Giusto a Rentennano style is refined and elegant with well-built structure and firm tannins held in place by a fresh acidity. On the nose red cherry and plum are complemented by dried herbs and licorice while the first sip reveals a medium body, smooth texture and long spiced finish. A great Chianti to add to the cellar or enjoy now with venison, roast beef or a hearty ragu served with fresh pasta.

Red Wine Vina San Pedro Altair Sideral 2019. This punchy Bordeaux-style blend is the product of a collaboration between one of Chile’s oldest producers, Vina San Pedro, and Chateau Dassault, a respected Grand Cru estate in Bordeaux. Vina San Pedro was founded in the Curicó Valley in 1865 by a pioneering family who were some of the first to experiment with planting Old World grape varieties in the region. This bottling is made from specially selected vineyards planted with old vines which give an incredible depth of flavour and power to the wine. Cabernet Sauvignon is the dominant component of the blend along with a smaller proportion of Syrah, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. The grapes are carefully harvested by hand and the young wine is matured in French oak barrels for 14 months. Each of the components of the wine is vinified and matured separately and blended by the winemaker before bottling. The result is a vivacious and juicy red wine which is ideal for enjoying alongside charcuterie, cheeses and red meat dishes. On the nose there are ample notes of black cherry, cassis and crushed berries while the first sip reveals a rich full body, smooth texture and soft tannins.

Red Wine Sleight Of Hand Cellars The Conjurer Red Blend 2019. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Founded in 2007 by Trey Busch, Jerry and Sandy Solomon, Sleight of Hand Cellars has already been named one of the emerging wineries in Washington State. Located in the south of Walla Walla, the winery produces fine wines from grapes sourced from a combination of its vineyards and some of Washington State’s best sites. Music plays a fundamental role in the company’s philosophy, and its motto is: Great wine, great music, lots of fun”. The Conjurer by Sleight of Hand is a classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot aged for 11 months in 25% new French oak. On the nose, there is an abundance of herbaceous notes, accompanied by inviting aromas of ripe black and red berries, currant, and pepper, black olives, and tobacco which add further complexity to the aromatic profile. On the palate, the wine is richly structured, incredibly soft, and enveloping. The tannins are fleshy and supported by a lively acid note and an excellent concentration of fruits. The finale is extremely long. It is a juicy and fruit-driven wine that goes perfectly with rich meat preparations, especially when served with fruit sauces.
