Red Wine Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon 2017. Decant 2 hours before serving. A real insider’s secret amongst wine lovers, Quilceda Creek winery has an impressive reputation for Cabernet and has received more 100-point scores from Robert Parker than any other North American winery. The property was founded in 1979 by Alex and Jeannette Golitzin in an almost desert-like corner of Washington State. The Golitzin family can trace their roots back to Prince Lev Sergeevich Galitzine, the acclaimed winemaker to the Russian Tzar, and Alex is actually the nephew of the legendary André Tchelistcheff who is often nicknamed the “Dean of American Winemaking.” This impressive pedigree is evident in their magnificent Cabernet Sauvignon which is crafted with fruit from Quilceda’s Champoux and Mach One vineyards. The young wine spends 20 months ageing in new Darnajou and Taransaud French Oak barrels before bottling, which helps to soften the punchy tannins and add extra complexity. Enchanting notes of blackberry, cassis and crushed wild berries immediately burst out of the glass followed by undertones of cigar box spice, sweet licorice and leather. The first sip reveals a generous full body, firm tannins, and a solid core of succulent dark fruit. The robust flavour profile will respond well to additional cellaring, although it can also be enjoyed now alongside rich red meat dishes.

Red Wine Quinta do Pessegueiro Tinto Douro 2017. It is recommended to decant half an hour before serving. Inserted in the purest landscape of the Alto Douro Vinhateiro, in Ervedosa do Douro, São João da Pesqueira, Quinta do Pessegueiro is distinguished by its extraordinary architecture. Owned by a French investor, Roger Zannier, the winery has distinct characteristics. The building has five levels where traditional methods of producing high quality wines are combined with the most sophisticated equipment designed to use natural gravity during the entire process that transforms grapes into wine. The use of pumps is totally excluded along the entire route, from the reception of the grapes to the barrel room. Vinho Tinto is a blend of Touriga Nacional and other local grapes from old vines. It is a wonderful and complex red wine with beautiful color and concentration. The nose is characterized by mineral notes such as wet earth and rock under wonderful aromas of ripe red fruits, vanilla, dark chocolate, and hints of mint. In the mouth, it is rich, balsamic, with red and black fruits and well integrated wood. It has strong tannins and remarkable but balanced acidity. Excellent with grilled red meat, lamb chops or aged cheese.
