Red Wine Pasqua Lui Cabernet Sauvignon 2017. Decant before drinking. Pasqua Vigneti e Cantine has a long tradition in wine in Italy celebrating almost a century of viticulture and fine winemaking. Founded in 1925 in Verona by the Famiglia Pasqua, the wines of Pasqua Vigneti e Cantine tell a rich story of wine in Valpolicella where the initial vines were planted and later along the east coast of Lake Garda. The Pasqua family has established itself as a leader in the Italian and international wine markets, serving 65 markets at present. The Lui Cabernet Sauvignon is known for being a bold and aggressive wine with complex layers that take drinkers on a journey of flavors. Nestled in a hot-climate zone, the Cabernet Sauvignon results in an opulent, fruit-driven wine. Dark fruits like black currant and cassis initially dominate the palate with hints of mint, sweet walnut and coffee showing up in the finish. Having spent time in cognac barrels, this wine particularly showcases the oak impact with rich scents of vanilla, coconut, dark rum and mascarpone, rounded out by a touch of tobacco. The mouthfeel is generous with soft tannins and high-alcohol that lifts the wine. Great with food, this Cabernet Sauvignon pairs well with a variety of meat dishes including red meat entrees, burgers, venison and lamb, as well as hearty pasta dishes and a variety of cheeses.

Red Wine Patz Hall Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2017. The Patz & Hall label was founded in 1988 by four Napa residents who decided to pool their extensive winemaking expertise to create premium hand-crafted wines in their own unique style. Instead of growing and managing their own vineyards, the winery prefers to build close relationships with partner growers across Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino, and Monterey counties. This gives them access to top quality fruit every vintage from many of California’s finest terroirs. Their Sonoma Coast Pinot comes from 18 small family-owned vineyards spread throughout the region, creating a cuvee of remarkable complexity and depth. The fruit is carefully transported to Patz & Hall’s state-of-the-art winery in Sonoma where it is vinified in stainless steel tanks and then aged in 45% new French oak barrels. Vibrant red cherry, strawberry, and delicate spice immediately burst out of the glass, followed by deeper undertones of dried herbs, baked earth, and undergrowth. The first sip reveals a medium body, smooth tannins, and a long finish with a bright streak of acidity and hints of woodsmoke and tobacco leaf. The freshness and balance makes this a great match for roast duck, game dishes, or even hearty French-style sausages.

Red Wine Pelter T Selection Cabernet Sauvignon 2017. This big and beautiful Israeli Cabernet is made from prime fruit sourced from the Golan Heights. The grapes come from the Pelter family’s high altitude Haruach Vineyard which sits at 11000 metres above sea level and boasts ancient volcanic soils. These conditions are perfect for producing exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon with the hot, sunny days and cooler nights locking in freshness and elegance as well as intense fruit flavours into the grapes. The family harvests their grapes manually for quality purposes, and once in the winery the fruit is macerated and fermented for two weeks at a low temperature. The young wine is then aged in French oak barrels for 18 months before bottling to add polish and enticing hints of toast and spice to the flavour profile. The Pelter family have been farming in Israel since Sam Pelter moved to the country from the USA in 1970. Sam’s son, Tal, was inspired to found the family’s boutique winery in the Golan Heights in 2005 after studying winemaking in Australia. The project has now blossomed into one of Israel’s most interesting small wineries thanks to the exceptional terroir of the Golan Heights and the Pelter family’s real passion for making top quality Israeli wines.
