Red Wine Mildiani Saperavi 2020. No need to decant but best to open it half an hour before service. Located in the wine region of Kakheti, in eastern Georgia, the Mildiani winery was founded in 1991 by four brothers, passionate about wine and viticulture. They produce a wide range of high-quality wines from local and international grape varieties sourced from owned vineyards in different wine areas, as well as spirits. The Saperavi wine of Cantina Mildiani is widely appreciated internationally, in fact, the 2002 harvest was awarded the silver medal at the 2004 Paris international wine competition “Vinalies Internationales”, and it was the first Georgian wine to receive such recognition after the collapse of the Soviet Union. This beautiful wine features a deep red color and offers aromas of red fruit and black currant. On the palate, the wine shows a medium body, and the flavors of wild berries are followed by notes of pomegranate, and aromatic herbs, with elegant smoky hints. The tannins are firm but soft and perfectly balanced by a nice and pleasant acidity. It is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 12-14 ° C, in combination with rustic cheese pies, baked feta, or pork.

Red Wine Montepeloso A Quo Toscana 2020. Fabio Chiarelotto grew up in Switzerland, but returned to his native Tuscany to pursue his dream of making wine. The Montepeloso estate has 15 acres of vineyards in the hills of Suvereto close to the coast in Bolgheri which is the warmest region in Tuscany. Making robust, powerful wines is easy here, but Fabio prefers to preserve elegance and freshness in his wines. To achieve this he typically does short macerations, uses only natural yeasts for fermentation and bottles his wines without filtration. Fabio’s A Quo has a reputation for being one of the best value Super Tuscan wines on the market thanks to its rich fruit and refined structure. It’s crafted from Montepulciano, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Marselan and Alicante grapes grown on lime-rich silex and clay soils which are carefully harvested by hand. Once in the winery the grapes are fully destemmed and fermented using wild yeasts. The young wine is then aged in used barrels for four months before bottling. This creates a very expressive and lively red which is bursting with dark berries, cherries and rich plum notes along with hints of dried herbs, sweet spice and licorice.

Red Wine Mora Memo E Rose Isola dei Nuraghi 2020. The vineyards of Mora & Memo are located in Sardinia’s south-eastern corner where the rolling hills and excellent limestone soils are ideally suited to the island’s native grape varieties. The winery was founded by Elisabetta Pala who is incredibly passionate above her island homeland and its characterful local wines. She focuses on producing inspired examples of Sardinian classics like Vermentino and Cannonau which are ideal for everyday enjoyment. This vibrant Isola Dei Nuraghi rosé is a great example of the Mora & Memo house style, with plenty of freshness and aromatics combined with intense fruit flavours. The cuvee is composed of the island’s most famous black and white grape varieties, Cannonau and Vermentino, which grow just a few kilometres from the sea. Once in the winery the fruit is fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve the natural personality of the grapes. Seductive notes of cherry, raspberry and blackberry immediately burst out of the glass followed by hints of oregano, rosemary, and a salty minerality. The first sip reveals a crisp freshness, enticing red fruit flavours, and a pure and clean finish which makes this ideal to serve as an aperitif. If you’d prefer to enjoy it with food, pair with leafy salads, fresh seafood, or grilled fish.
