Red Wine Longview Fresco 2020. The Longview estate was a working dairy for most of the last century until the arrival of the Saturno family. Today brothers Mark and Peter manage the 65 hectare estate together, making the most of the excellent terroir to produce top quality Australian wines inspired by classic French and Italian grapes. The climate here is relatively cool thanks to the estate’s location near the Mt Lofty Ranges on gentle rolling hills some 45 minutes away from Adelaide. To preserve freshness the brothers plant their white grapes on south-facing slopes, while their black grape varieties are planted on warmer north-facing slopes. This light and elegant red was inspired by young and vibrant Italian table wines which are designed to pair well with informal family dinners and big plates of pasta and pizza. The main component is Nebbiolo along with a smaller proportion of Pinot Nero, Sangiovese and Barbera. To preserve plenty of freshness and aromatics the grapes were fermented and matured in stainless steel tanks. Bursting with bright red cherry, strawberry and deeper notes of dark plum and bramble, this easy-drinking wine is a great match for all kinds of dishes ranging from hard cheeses and charcuterie to roasted duck, tomato-based pasta dishes and vegetarian mains.

Red Wine Luciano Arduini Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore 2020. The Luciano Arduini estate is located in northern Italy, in San Pietro in Cariano, not far from Lake Garda and only 13 km from Verona. Founded in 1940 by Gabriele Arduini, the house is one of the oldest in the region. The land was gradually extended through the acquisition of additional vineyards in the 1970s. However, it was not until 2002 that the grandson and current owner Luciano Arduini modernized the estate from top to bottom and thus marked the beginning of a new era. Today, his son Andrea is gradually taking over the vineyards. The family tradition continues and takes care of the small property of only 7 ha. In terms of grapes, they cultivate the typical varieties of the Verona region: Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Molinara and Oseleta for the red wines and Garganega and Trebbiano for the whites. This wine is made from Corvina (60%), Corvinone (20%), and Rondinella (20%), from 30-year-old vines, which are hand-harvested and collected in small wooden boxes where they are left to dry until mid-November. The Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore is a beautiful ruby red wine with violet reflections. In the mouth, the wine is fresh with lovely notes of red berries. The taste is harmoniously soft and warm, with round tannins and a quite long finish. Try it with roast pork, red meat, and aged cheeses.

Red Wine Manincor Mason Pinot Nero 2020. Decanting time: will benefit from decanting. The biodynamic wine originating in South Tyrol from this 400 year old winery is cultivated in sandy, varied grain soils of dolomite, porphyry gneiss and granite composites situated at a superb 400-450 metres above sea level, bathed in ample sun and gentle breezes, which reduce the potential for the tight Pinot Noir grape clusters to rot with trapped moisture. Only the best barrels are used for the Mason. Glistening, brilliant ruby color. Soft, elegant aromas of wild berries, black pepper, forest floor and peppermint with hints of rose petals and licorice. The ripe, spicy berry nose is consistent with the elegant and intensely pure palate. This succulent wine flows seamlessly and combines ripe tannins with a tightly woven, well-balanced delivery with a hint of oak to round out the texture. The wine is fragrant and linear with an impressive equilibrium that produces endless complexity. Its gentle, sophisticated structure carries through to a long, fine mineral finish. Serve with grilled or roasted meats, game, root vegetables and soft ripened cheese. Also delectable on its own. A young vintage can be enjoyed early with decanting, and cellar aged offerings mature gracefully, revealing an exquisite delicateness. A grand cru from a grand cru.” Aged for 12 months in 25% new barriques.
