Red Wine Dumol Wester Reach Pinot Noir 2019. Cellar for up to 10 years, no decanting necessary. From the greater Russian River Valley appellation, the Wester Reach line draws fruit from the vineyards that encompass the cooler, more westerly climates of the high coastal ridges in the region. With steadfast focus on site specification and expression, Wester Reach is the perfect project manifest of Andy Smith — Dumol’s 20 year veteran winemaker and viticulturist. The wine sees hand harvested fruit from five vineyards. Flax Estate, with its volcanic soils, imparts volume, structure and density. The deeper clays of Hanna Vineyard bring broad fruit extract and textural richness. Upp Road Vineyard contributes red and black fruit aromas and Widdoes Vineyard, black cherry intensity and old vine complexity. DuMOL Estate offers dark fruit tones, spice and vibrancy. The selection and blending from these sites pays tribute to their individuality in a balanced, holistic wine. Expect a full array of red and black fruit with savory undertones of dried thyme, orange zest, sandalwood and black tea. It’s crunchy and bright, supple at the same time.

Red Wine Dunham Cellars Three Legged Red 2019. The Dunham family founded their namesake boutique winery in Washington State in 1995 in an old World War II aircraft hangar. Since then the property has gone from strength to strength, specialising in producing top quality reds crafted from Bordeaux varietals which are well-suited to the local terroir. This charming cuvee is named the Three Legged Red after a puppy that Eric Dunham found. The dog had been attacked by another dog, losing one of its legs in the process. Eric decided to adopt the pup as the winery dog and later created this wine as an hommage to his trusty companion. Just like the dog, this is an easy-going red that gets on with most people. It’s a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah that’s aged in the same barrels used for Dunham’s top wines. Bright red cherry, cigar box spice and hints of tomato immediately burst out of the glass followed by deeper undertones of forest floor, graphite, and dark chocolate. The approachable nature of this wine with its medium body and smooth tannins makes it an ideal choice for casual family dinners or drinks with friends. It can also be cellared for a few more years if desired.

Red Wine Dunham Cellars Syrah 2019. Since the first wines were made here some 25 years ago, Dunham Cellars has developed a reputation for producing top quality Washington State wines. The family-run winery works closely with partner growers to produce exceptional fruit which is then used to create their signature punchy yet elegant red wines. This Syrah is a great example of the classic Dunham style and is made with fruit from the Lewis Estate, Phinny Hill and Kenny Hill Estate in the Columbia Valley. The region is ideally-suited to premium winemaking thanks to the unique terroir which features long sunny days followed by cool nights. This helps the grapes to achieve full ripeness while retaining plenty of freshness and aromatics. Expect plentiful cassis, blackberry and ripe plum on the nose along with undertones of sweet tobacco, cured meat and spice from the oak ageing. Dunham age 40% of this wine in new French and American oak to add extra character and complexity, with the remainder aged in neutral vessels. The result is a magnificent full bodied red that’s an ideal match for hearty red meat dishes like barbecued meats or charcuterie.
