Red Wine Chateau Purcari Sapiens Feteasca Neagra 2019. It can benefit from decanting. The history of Chateau Purcari began in the 18th century when some French settlers occupied the land near the monastery of Afono-Zagraf and took charge of maintaining order in the vineyards by paying a tenth of the crop income. The French understood from the beginning that the terroir was special and began to produce excellent red wines with intense and complex flavors that soon became famous all over the world. In 2003, after the planting of 250 hectares of vineyards and the updating of the cellar with the best equipment, the modern period in the history of Château Purcari began, which today exports its wines all over the world. This wine is made from 100% Feteasca Neagra grapes harvested and selected by hand and then vinified with traditional methods and aged in new oak barrels. It has an intense and deep ruby red color with violet reflections. On the nose, the red fruit is predominant with bold aromas of black currant, blackberries, plums, and hints of sweet spices. In the mouth, it is juicy, full, and soft with strong tannins and notes of red fruits and vanilla. It has a long finish and a distinct personality. Try it with grilled meat dishes such as pork steaks or lamb chops.

Red Wine Chateau Purcari Vinohora Red 2019. Chateau Purcari is famous in its native Moldova for being the country’s oldest and most exciting winery. French settlers in this corner of south-eastern Moldova noticed the similarities between local terroir and that of their native Bordeaux which lies on the same latitude and has similar rubidium-rich soils. They partnered with local monks to start planting Bordeaux varietals here which are today grown at Purcari alongside indigenous varieties. The estate’s Vinohora wines blend these Bordeaux varietals and local grapes to create fascinating and original cuvees which fuse the two winemaking cultures to craft something entirely new. This red blend is composed of the local Rara Neagră grape and Malbec which was traditionally used in Bordeaux as a blending grape. The fruit is grown in estate vineyards close to the Black Sea and is carefully harvested by hand to ensure it arrives at the winery in perfect condition. Vinification is then carried out using traditional winemaking techniques and the young wine is aged in French oak barrels for 12 months, producing a rich and robust red wine which is bursting with dark fruit notes and hints of spice and bitter chocolate.

The best barrels of Symphonie Rouge are then selected and aged between 18 and 24 months. The wine shows an intense purple color with bright reflections. It is fresh and concentrated, with cherries and forest fruits, balsamic and minty chocolate notes, and a spicy and toasted burst.
