Red Wine Cannonball Cabernet Sauvignon 2018. As the name suggests, this Cabernet Sauvignon is a big, bold wine with a powerful flavour profile. Pour out a glass and you’ll immediately be seduced by the dark ruby red hue and enticing aromas of dark chocolate, blueberries and sweet spices. The first sip reveals a full body, rich and smooth texture, and delicious sweet dark berry flavours with hints of black tea and dried violets. Thanks to the intense flavours this is an excellent wine to drink alongside a hearty fresh pasta dish served with a rich ragu. It also goes very well with casual dinner options like hamburgers or pepperoni pizza thanks to the rich fruity flavours and well-developed structure or can be enjoyed on its own on a cold winter’s evening by the fireside. This light-hearted wine takes its name from the curled-up foetal position that kids often take when they jump into the water to maximise the impact. In the same way, this Cannonball wine is guaranteed to make a splash with lovers of bold reds. The grapes are sourced from California where the warm climate helps to develop juicy fruit flavours and plenty of character in the finished wine.

Red Wine Cartlidge Browne Cabernet Sauvignon 2018. Tony Cartlidge first dreamed of making wine in the Golden State after reading a book about great California winemakers while working on a nuclear power construction site near Washington. In 1980 Tony teamed up with local entrepreneur Glenn Browne to found a winery in a Napa Valley garage. After touring California in search of top quality fruit, the duo made their first vintage in 1981 and quickly caught the attention of the international wine media including Robert Parker who praised their fruit forward, pure, varietally correct, delicious wines”. Today this boutique winery purchases grapes from their esteemed partner growers across the state, often focusing on lesser-known appellations which offer excellent quality and value for money. Their Cabernet Sauvignon is made in a rich and robust style which is certain to please lovers of big, bold reds. On the nose there are luscious cassis, crushed blackberry and ripe plum notes mingling with hints of cinnamon, clove and dried herbs. The first sip reveals a hearty full body, well-rounded texture and firm tannins. The long finish and intense fruity flavour profile make this a great match for barbecued meats, rib eye steak or game dishes.
