Red Wine Bread Butter Cabernet Sauvignon 2019. Bread & Butter is based in Napa Valley where they focus on crafting easy-going, delicious wines inspired by the relaxed Cali lifestyle and the rich variety of local terroirs. Bread” reflects their use of oak barrels to mature and ferment their wines while Butter” refers to malolactic fermentation which gives their Chardonnays their characteristic creamy character. This big, bold Cabernet epitomises the typical boisterous Bread & Butter style with plenty of ripe fruit and powerful oaky notes. The grapes for this wine are sourced from a variety of vineyard sites across California before being carefully vinified in the winery. A combination of cooler sites closer to the Pacific Coast and warmer vineyards with plenty of sun exposure help to create an intense yet balanced wine with real power and elegance. Before bottling the wine is aged in a mixture of French and American oak barrels which helps to add polish and smooth out the firm tannins. Crushed cassis, blueberry and ripe plums characterise the nose while the first sip reveals a generous full body, robust tannins and a long, slightly spiced finish. The juicy flavour profile makes this a great match for a grilled ribeye steak, barbecued meats or a spicy pepperoni pizza.

Red Wine Bread Butter Pinot Noir 2019. Located in Napa Valley, the Bread & Butter brand specialises in producing well-made California wines that encapsulate the Golden State’s relaxed attitude and sunny climate. Envisioned as simple pleasures to make every day a bit brighter, their delicious wines are made from classic California grape varieties like Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon which thrive in the warm conditions. They also produce this superb Pinot Noir which is made from top quality California fruit. Grapes are sourced from close to the Pacific Coast where the morning mists and fogs that roll in from the Pacific Ocean moderate the hot, sunny summer days. This helps to preserve freshness and aromatics in the finished wine. Before bottling the young wine is aged in French and American oak barrels to add polish and subtle hints of toast and woodsmoke. This fruit-forward Pinot is bursting with juicy dark berry notes including cassis, raspberry and dark cherries. On the palate there’s a medium body, refreshing acidity and rich dark fruit flavours which mingle with bay leaf, cedar and spice on the long finish. The easy-going flavour profile makes this a great wine to pair with dishes like barbecued meats, roasted lamb, charcuterie or even salmon.

Red Wine Brunelli Corte Cariano Corvina 2019. This stunning single varietal is an unusual example of a 100% Corvina wine. Traditionally the grape is blended with other indigenous varieties like Rondinella and Molinara to make the Veneto region’s full bodied Valpolicella and Amarone wines. The Corte Cariano was envisaged by enologist Alberto Brunelli as something quite different, a bold and fruit-forward style which would showcase the potential of the Corvina grape to stand alone. The wine is made using traditional local winemaking techniques which call for the grapes to be partially dried in small crates for 60 days. The grape must is then fermented and the young wine is then aged in oak barrels for 12 months followed by a further 4 months in the bottle. This method produces an intensely concentrated and rich dry red wine which exudes seductive aromas of crushed dark berries, cherries, and sweet spices from the oak. The first sip reveals a smooth full body, gentle tannins, and bold blackberry, plum, and blackcurrant flavours which linger on the tongue. Full of character and youthful vigour, this is an ideal wine to match with typical Veronese cuisine like a rich bean soup, pasta served with a red meat ragu, or dishes with truffle or mushrooms.
