Its delicious scent recalls berry fruits, in a complex array of aromas ranging from balsamic to floral, from fruity to spicy. The blend is a balanced mix between Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, with a flavor that appears structured on the palate but at the same time soft and enveloping, and whose harmony will persist over time. It makes a great partner for game, especially wild boar, or aged cheese.

Red Wine La Crema Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2018. Decanting is optional, it may benefit from breathing for 30 minutes before serving. Nestled in the Russian River Valley in Sonoma County, La Crema began life as La Crema Viñera”, in 1979. The winery originally sourced its grapes from the valley and coastal Sonoma areas, but as the business grew, so did its selection of vineyards. Nowadays, La Crema’s wines are made of premium grapes from cool-climate appellations all across California and Oregon. In 1993, the winery was acquired by Jess Jackson and Barbara Banke, the husband and wife duo behind Jackson Family Wines. They began to cultivate the delicate Pinot Noir, an under-utilised grape in California at the time. The grape and the winery formed a symbiotic relationship, driving each other to tremendous success in the region. Sonoma Coast is La Crema’s flagship wine, crafted from 100% Pinot Noir. It features pungent aromas of dark fruit on the nose, blackberry and cherry mingle with warm notes of tobacco and leather. Grapes are sourced exclusively from the Sonoma Coast AVA, a cool terroir defined by the mighty Pacific Ocean. Red forest fruits dominate the palate of this dry red wine, scored by subtle hints of cocoa and exotic spices. It will be a perfect partner for salty meats and sweet treats, such as stuffed dates wrapped in bacon, or glazed ham.

Red Wine La Massa Toscana 2018. The ancient property of La Massa has been planted with vineyards since at least the 15th century. It sits in the heart of Chianti Classico in the famed Conca d’Oro” or Golden Basin” which is home to many of the region’s top producers. In 1991 the estate was bought by Giampaolo Motta who turned his back on his family’s leather working business in Naples to pursue his dream of winemaking in Bordeaux and then Chianti. Giampaolo first released La Massa in 1998 as a Chianti Classico, but in 2002 he decided to declassify the wine and produce a more innovative Super Tuscan wine free from the restrictions of the appellation. Today the blend is composed of Sangiovese and Merlot with a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon and is aged in oak barrels for 10 months before bottling. The result is a rich, robust red that punches far above its price tag thanks to the winning combination of excellent terroir and inspired winemaking. On the nose there are inviting hints of dark berries and plums along with sweet oaky spice, while the first sip reveals a medium body bolstered by firm tannins and a long, elegant finish.
