Red Wine Tinazzi Primitivo di Manduria F79 2019. Decant to a drinking glass for 10 or 20 minutes. Tinazzi is a family business, spanning over 50 years and three generations. The winery was founded in 1968, through the determination of Eugenio Tinazzi. Ownership has since passed down to his son Gian Andrea, who is joined by his two children, Giorgio and Francesca. From relatively humble beginnings, a single estate on the shores of Lake Garda, Tinazzi has become a company in a state of constant growth. They have acquired several estates and cellars all across Italy, including a stake in Puglia, home of the large, robust Primitivo. This 2019 Primitivo is a deep ruby red, bursting with flavours of bold black fruits. It has an intense nose, with notes of plum, dark cherries, and spicy cinnamon. The red soils of the Taranto region combined with its scorching sun have produced an undeniably potent grape. This is a warm and filling vintage, with excellent structure and a long, enveloping finish. It can be relished immediately, or cellared for further aging. Enjoy it with a hearty meal to match this red’s full body, such as a tomato-rich pasta dish, beef, or lamb.

Red Wine Tinto Pesquera Crianza 2019. It is recommended to decant it an hour before service. Each bottle of Tinto Pesquera Crianza contains a little of the history of the Ribera del Duero. Alejandro Fernández and Esperanza Rivera began producing it in 1975, placing Ribera del Duero on the world wine map even before it became a denomination. Its elaboration follows the ancestral tradition, with destemming followed by fermentation. After a period spent in stainless steel vats, the wine rests for 14 months in American oak barrels. It is a wine full of fruit, easy to approach, but also capable of aging with elegance. A fundamental red for those who want to know about the wines of the Ribera del Duero. Although the vintages seem progressively drier due to climate change, Pesquera Crianza retains that freshness which is precisely the sign of its identity. The color is intense ruby with violet reflections. The nose is dominated by hints of wild berries and balsamic tones of the forest. Over time, the notes of licorice and the spicy aromas associated with its aging in American oak advance, but always with great delicacy. In the mouth, the wine is fleshy, the tannins round, the acidity perfectly integrated, with nice persistence. Have it with stuffed eggplant, rabbit with olives, or Coq au vin.

Red Wine Torbreck The Struie Shiraz 2019. Decant for up to an hour before serving. A creation of Australian stalwart David Powell, Torbreck winery has grown to become one of the Barossa region’s most prestigious wineries. It began in 1994 when Powell steeped the first Torbreck vintage on his 12-hectare parcel of land in Marananga. Since then, the operators at Torbreck have become caretakers of several vineyards in Barossa and work with independent wine-growers all across the region. The Struie is named after a hilltop in the Scottish highlands, a place where Powell formerly worked as a lumberjack. It is made from 100% Shiraz/Syrah and is the perfect choice for those who want to discover why the Barossa region is so widely renowned. Showcasing lifted aromas of black fruits, chocolate and a notable, graphite-like minerality, The Struie is crafted from grapes grown in elevated vineyards across Eden and Barossa Valley. Plum, blackcurrant and blueberry all contribute to its concentrated flavour. As the wine opens up, hints of chocolate, violet and spice appear, marrying harmoniously on the palate. The Struie was aged in French oak for 20 months, and its supple tannins will support years of potential cellaring. Combine it with a herby rack of lamb, a wine-based stew, or a hard cheese.
