Red Wine Manincor Reserve del Conte 2020. Made of 40% Merlot, 35% Lagrein, and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, the Manincor Reserve Del Conte is a deep ruby color, with aromas of lingonberry and blackberry bramble. This leads to a spice and herb driven palate, rich with flavors of black pepper, olives, and brandied cherries. Medium in body, this beautiful red blend combines the softness of Merlot, the acidity of Lagrein, and the tannin of Cabernet to craft a wine that is almost Burgundian in its silky mouth feel. The Reserve Del Conte would be a perfect match for heavily herbed pork or lamb dishes, or grilled steaks served with a green peppercorn sauce. Weingut Manincor is a certified biodynamic, sustainable winery located in the Northern Italian Alps. The Reserve Del Conte is produced with grapes grown from some of the warmest vineyards in South Tyrol (a cool area), making for red wines that reach optimum ripeness, but still retain the acidity necessary to make a well-balanced wine. Fermented using natural yeasts in a combination of stainless steel, oak, and cement vats, the juice was macerated for ten days to extract flavor, color, and tannin from the grapes, and then aged in oak barrels of varying sizes for 12 months.

Red Wine Domaine de la Grand’Cour JL Dutraive Saint-Amour Clos du Chapitre 2020. Fifth generation vigneron Jean-Louis took over the running of the family domaine in 1989 and made it his lifelong mission to put Beaujolais on the map for elegant and serious wines which capture the beauty of the terroir and the Gamay grape. Jean-Louis uses artisanal methods wherever possible and farms all of the family’s 11.5 hectares of vines organically to produce top quality raw ingredients for his wines. This refined red from the Saint-Amour appellation of Beaujolais is a single vineyard wine made from the family’s Clos du Chapitre vineyard which was planted back in the 1970s. The ancient alluvial and pebbly soils here are well-draining and the vines get plenty of exposure to the sun, helping to produce balanced wines with ripe fruit balanced by refreshing acidity. Jean-Louis harvests the domaine’s grapes by hand and uses carbonic maceration to enhance the natural freshness of the fruit before fermentation with wild yeasts. The young wine is then transferred to oak barrels for 8 months before it is bottled without fining or filtering. The result is an energetic and enchanting wine that’s bursting with bright red cherry, hints of dried herbs, and a mouthwatering freshness on the finish.

Red Wine Domaine Charles Audoin Au Champ Salomon Rouge 2020. The Audoin family’s domaine is regarded as Marsannay reference point” by Wine Advocate thanks to the vision of Charles Audoin who started bottling and selling wines under his name in the 1970s. Charles grew the family’s modest 2.5 hectare property to 14 hectares which are all farmed organically and include many of Marsannay’s top crus. Today the property is run by his son, Cyril, who is the fifth generation of the family to grow grapes here. Champ Salomon has special significance for the family since it was planted in 1945 by Cyril’s grandfather and tends to produce rich expressions of Pinot Noir. The wines are all bottled without filtering and fining to allow the natural character of the terroir and variety to shine through. Ripe raspberries, cherries and plums dominate on the nose with undertones of bramble, spice, and baked earth. The first sip reveals a bright burst of red fruit flavours which linger long on the tongue along with fine tannins, a well-built structure and a bright streak of acidity on the finish. The balanced and refined flavour profile make it a great choice to serve with charcuterie or mature hard cheeses as well as rich meat stews, roast duck, or game like venison.
