Red Wine EnRoute Les Pommiers Pinot Noir 2019. No need to decant it but it is recommended to open it half an hour before service. Founded in 2007 by the partners of the Far Niente winery in Napa Valley, EnRoute is the result of their common passion for Pinot Noir. After purchasing and replanting a 20-acre apple orchard near Graton, in Sonoma County, the partners decided to acquire the Amber Ridge vineyard, and establish a winery dedicated to capturing the magical essence of this amazing grape variety. Les Pommiers Pinot Noir takes its name from an abandoned apple orchard that was located near the Northern Spy Vineyard, where the grapes come from. This wine shows a beautiful ruby color. It is rich and silky with a fragrant bouquet of dried rose petals and berries, raspberry jam, and blackberry aromas. In the mouth, it is a juicy, full, and round wine with accents of cloves and undergrowth that can be glimpsed up to the finish. The tannins are ripe and perfectly integrated. The acidity is lively and extremely balanced. Have it now with guinea fowl, duck or a mixed cheese board, or leave it in the cellar for a few extra years.

Red Wine Mettler Old Vine Zinfandel 2019. This big bold Zinfandel is a generous full-bodied wine which opens with enticing notes of blackcurrant, dark cherries and ripe plums. The first sip reveals smooth tannins, velvety texture, and very long finish with hints of dark chocolate, smoky tobacco, and roasted coffee beans. The typically intense flavor profile of the Zinfandel variety is enhanced by the use of old vines which produce grapes with more concentration and depth of flavor. The result is a powerful red which is ideal to pair with hearty red meat dishes like steak, beef stew, or roast pork and lamb. While it is drinking very well now, the wine will continue to develop over the next 6 years or so. The Mettler family have been growing grapes in California’s Lodi Valley since the late 1800s. Today the family retain control of every aspect of the winemaking process on their estate where they insist on farming organically. They also pursue a sustainable approach to grape growing and winemaking to ensure the land is preserved in perfect condition for the future generations of the family who will take care of this stunning property.

Red Wine Erath Pinot Noir 2019. Erath winery is one of the oldest producers in Oregon’s Dundee Hills thanks to the visionary winemaker Dick Erath who created his very first barrel of wine in his garage. Dick originally pursued a career as an engineer before studying at UC Davis, a famous viticultural school in California, and deciding to move his family to the wild hills of the Chehalem Mountains in Oregon in the 1960s. Dick experimented with some 23 different varieties on his land before discovering that Pinot Noir thrived here. He was instrumental in helping import French clones to Oregon in the 1970s and by 1984 one of his wines was awarded Best American Pinot Noir” by Wine & Spirits. Today the winery continues to excel at making premium Pinot Noir like this classic bottling which is made in an easy-drinking, fruit forward style. The nose is bursting with ripe red cherries, redcurrants and strawberry notes along with undertones of pomegranate, fragrant lavender, and anise. On the palate there’s a well-balanced flavour profile with smooth tannins, a well-rounded texture, and a pure, clean finish with a bright streak of acidity. Try pairing with tomato-based dishes like fresh pasta served with a ragu sauce or even lightly spiced Indian curries.
